Wednesday's Weekly Update

I've been lacking serious motivation lately.
And it's really awful.
I've only been taking pictures on Wednesday's for the sole purpose of this update.
Thank goodness for that.
But there really just hasn't been anything that strikes my fancy.
And everyday basically feels the same.
Isn't that terrible?
I'd say we should try and do some day trips, try and get some new scenery and maybe a little excitement, but Owen is so so soooooo bad in the car.

I wake up between 5 and 6,
take off old sweats,
just to put on slightly nicer ones.
Because all my old clothes still hug the fat around my middle.
I eat my oatmeal breakfast, in hopes that it really does increase milk supply,
get the rest of the gang dressed and fed,
play dolls while bouncing a baby on my lap,
go to school or if we are lucky have a playdate,
play more dolls,
fight Molly for a nap,
emotionally drained after said fight and let Jane play with the iPad longer than I should,
try and compensate for the lost time with a project that takes me longer to set up than it does entertain her,
Molly wakes up,
play more dolls,
waste some time before dinner in the bath,
make three separate dinners while juggling a fussy and tired baby,
and by make I mean reheat Rice-a-Roni,
play more dolls,
finally head to bed before 7 with Owen.

Motherhood at its finest.

Hoping some life jumps back into me soooooon!

 Jane

-Today has just not been her day.
Yesterday wasn't either.

-She makes me giggle when she calls the UPS man the CVS man :)

-We ran to Walmart to get some teethers for Owen.
While we were getting a cart,
Jane says, "Mommy, there's an elf.  A real elf!"
Oh boy.
A dwarf was restocking the soda refrigerator.
In a panic, I hurried them on our way, hoping the gentleman didn't hear her.
Though I'm pretty sure he did.
I told her some people are born that way and we don't call them elves.
Ugh.
I should try and teach them more about diversity!

-Saturday my mom took Jane to see a Fancy Nancy show.
After the show, there was a meet and greet.
Jane's usually pretty shy in situations like that, so my mom was ready to leave.
Jane got teary eyed, and my mom asked if she wanted to go see the cast.
She did, and ended up having them all sign her program!

-The girls have been playing more in their bedroom lately.
I don't keep toys in their rooms.
They do have a bookshelf full of books though.
When they go up, they usually play sleepover.
No big deal.
Well, Jane started yelling, "Mommy, you gotta come see this!  It's a pig sty!"
Even though there were books, yes every last book, thrown about the room, it was pretty funny hearing Jane say that!

-She seriously loves one on one play time.

Molly

-Everything is Big Bad Wolf this and Big Bad Wolf that right now.
And she loves when we act out the Three Little Pigs.

-So they like to play in their bedroom...
Usually they are pretty good up there.
Books may be everywhere, but that's the extent of it.
Except yesterday.
I was feeding Owen downstairs when I hear Jane calling me.
I went up to find Selson Blue all over Molly's bed, on her, on the carpet, on the books.
I probably should not have freaked out as bad as I did, after all, it's just soap.
But I think just seeing all the blue everywhere I went crazy.
I mean, her bed was covered!
I told them they weren't allowed to play upstairs anymore.
And Jane was just crying and crying.
I've told Molly many, many, manymanymany, times
that the things in the bathroom were not to play with.
I'll have to figure something out, or just supervise better,
because I can't keep them out of their room forever.

-After this happened, we went to our neighbors house to play.
When it was time to go home, Molly would not walk.
I practically had to drag her home.
I even tried carrying both her and Owen home part of the way.
I tried being nice, I tried bribes, I tried to make it a game, and then I tried threats.
This girl....going to be the death of me yet!

-After all this went down,
I was thinking how I am just losing my patience too easily.
I don't like the approach I've come to with disciplining her.
I know I'm just responding or saying things too quick out of frustration.
I've sworn to myself to breath first and take it easy!
But man, two year olds are HARD!

Owen

-Look at those eyes!
The doctor thought his eyes were possibly going to be like Janes.
Lucky boy!

-He's a lot like Jane was as a baby.
She always wanted to be held, and you had to be moving.
Owen is just the same these days.

-He loves to stand.
If you are holding him while sitting, he prefers to stand on your lap.
And he's pretty good at it!

-If he's being held, he's a happy boy.
It doesn't matter who has him, it could be the mailman for all he cares!

-He thinks Jane is pretty funny.
He doesn't have full out giggles yet, but he'll kinda laugh at about anything Jane does.

-His smile will light up a room!

Wednesday's Weekly Update

Molly

-She's been getting pretty picky about her clothes lately.
As soon as I put her pants on, she squats to test them out.
99% of the time she whines that they are too tight.
(They aren't!)
I'm hoping she gets out of this stage soon and doesn't take after me.
I wouldn't wear anything but stretchy pants until 6th grade!

-We got the best report about Molly from Sunday school.
I went to pick her up and her teacher told me she was the sweetest child ever.
There was a new girl who was crying in the class so Molly went over and gave her hugs and said she would play with her.
They also have name tags that they wear on their backs.
Because the little girl was new, she didn't have one so she had to wear tape with her name.
Molly asked to have a tape name too and told the little girl, "Now we alike."
It just melted my heart.
Sometimes I wonder if we are doing the right things with her
(because she can be quite naughty!)
This was really something I needed to hear!

-She's been going through these super hyper spurts throughout the day.
I can't explain what sets her off.
But it involves her laughing hysterically and usually disobeying.
It's hard because I don't want to break her spirit, but the not obeying part is really taking a toll on everyone.
She'll say No, or do the exact opposite of what I ask.
Like if Owen is sleeping, she'll go stand right in front of him and start laughing as loud as possible.
Or
The girls are now going to bed at the same time, so when Brian is reading, she'll just start with her crazy laughing.
Ignoring the laughing helps to a point, but basically I'm pretty stumped.
There's only so many times one can go to time out.

-I caught her putting chapstick on Brian's toothbrush, and then eating it off.

 Jane

-She really takes pride in how she looks.
If her nails are painted, she has to show them off to everyone.
She loves her clothes and shoes.
She's going to be quite a teenager!

-She was so excited to open her Valentine's that she got from school today.
She wouldn't open the bag until Molly and I were ready to watch.
She opened every one, asking who each one was from.
And she's been enjoying all the candy ever since.

-She's been really playing sooooo well by herself lately.
She's come so far since the summer.
I know a lot has to do with having Owen and less time to give her, but it's been really good.
She loves her princess Barbie-sized dolls and the smaller magic clip dolls.

Owen

-He turned 4 months on Sunday!

-He weighs exactly 14 pounds, which is between the 25-50% and is 25 and three quarter inches tall, which is in the 75th %.

-The doctor said she could convince herself that his gums were swollen,
like he was going to get a tooth.
But when I said Molly didn't get her first tooth until 11 months she changed her mind.
But who knows, could explain why he chews on his hands all the time.

-He's been going to bed earlier and earlier.
He hasn't been taking a late nap so he's been ready for bed by about 6 or so.
I usually don't mind heading to bed after the girls go to bed.
One of these days I'm going to get him in his crib.....

More Snow

Disclaimer:
There are way too many snow photos here.
I just couldn't bare to part with any.

I know some people around these parts are just over all this snow.
But for me, it has made what normally are the two worst months of the whole year totally bearable.
No, rather, enjoyable thanks to having Brian home so much.
Sure there were bad days.
Ok, some really bad bad days.
But I was preparing for a looooong January and February, bunkered down here at home.
And here we are, almost the end of February, and I'm in disbelief that it's gone so fast!

We got about 18 inches all at once last week.
The first time Jane went out, she pretty much hid in the garage the whole time.
She didn't know what to do!
It was too deep to walk or really play in.

They didn't plow our street until the very end of the day.
So everyone was just stuck.
This is Molly watching Brian try and help our neighbor get his truck out.

The next day we made a snow fort.
Now the girls had something to do.
They were out for 4 hours on Friday!
(not all at once)
It was just what we all needed.
We soaked in some vitamin D and were all able to just breath some fresh air.
It was a good good day.

Ok, now I'm really ready for spring!

Valentine's Day!!

It's love day!
And what makes this day seem so special this year is that everyone is home.
Due to significant snow, it's going to be an extra long weekend!

As disappointing as it is that Jane didn't have her Valentine's Day party at school,
she's been having the best day ever!

I made doughnuts first thing this morning (thank you Pilsbury).
The girls opened a present.
And now they have been out in the snow for two hours and counting.

It definitely is a sweet day!

Happy Valentine's Day!!
