Mousey

This actually is something that happened about a week ago but everyone's been sick around here so I've been pretty busy!  The girls, and Brian, were hit with a stomach bug.  Then everyone got this awful cold, with terrible sore throat, fever, and headache.  Needless to say, there's been too many sleepless nights to get around to posting anything.

Why am I so happy, you ask?  Oh well, that is because the disgusting rodent that had been inhabiting with us is gone!

But let me start at the beginning.

We've been having a really mild winter.  And then we had a bone chilling night.  That was the night the little mousey decided to get out of the cold and take shelter in my car.  Yes, that's right.  My CAR!  And how did we know there was a mouse in my car?  It went right to where the food is.  Inside Jane's car seat!  Brian had gone out to start it up before church when he saw some of the stuffing from the car seat chewed.  That darn strap that comes up between Jane's legs lets all kinds of snacks sneak their way deep into the seat, never to be found.  Well, that is unless you are a mouse!

Brian said he scared any mouse that was inside the car away, but I rode to church with my feet off the floor.

Two days later, Brian and I were having a quiet night watching tv.  And that was when we heard him.  That Houdini of a mouse was under the couch in which I was sitting.

I haven't made this clear, but I am terrified of mice.  I know they are small little, harmless creatures.  But I hate them!

So I stood with a blanket, which I was supposed to drop on the mouse, when Brian scared him out from under the couch.  But as soon as I saw him I freaked and somehow missed!

For two days that mouse was roaming this house.  In my sister's words, feeling so violated!  With every step I was afraid that mouse would run out.  I hated sitting on the floor playing with my babies!

My good husband put some sticky traps in the basement with cheese and caught that stinker.  Goodbye mousey mousey.

Day Off

Nothing is better than a 3 day weekend.  Even though I'm not the one going to work, just being at home with the girls is a lot of work!  I racked my brain for something fun to do close to home that would be indoors and warm.  And then it came to me.  The bowling alley is literally 2 minutes from our house. We've never taken Jane before so it was the perfect time to introduce her to something she probably will do a lot in her future (because it is soooo close!).

This was what we did Presidents Day.  I think we have a new family tradition!

Jane had so much fun.  We couldn't believe we hadn't thought to go here before with the kids.  The bright colored balls, the music, the action all around.  What's not to love?!  Days off are awesome!

Meal Planning 001

Aren't the 001 level classes the ones you are required to take before you are actually ready for the 100 level?

Yeah, that is about where I am in my meal planning.

Yikes, to be honest, the past month our meals in this house have been BAD. Not because my cooking is bad, but because I just did not take the time to plan anything out until minutes before I started cooking.  And I feel like a terrible wife not providing a decent meal for my husband!

Things have just seemed kind of crazy around here.  Brian has had later nights at work, Jane has mostly stopped napping, and Molly's been fussy and difficult in regards to eating anything lately.  So without my mid-day break with Jane's nap, I feel like I just go- go- go all day with kids.  And dinner, well, it's just gone to the wayside.  Dinner for Jane is the same every night, mac and cheese or chicken nuggets.  At 4:30.  So by the time Brian comes home from work, I almost feel like dinner is over.  Even though we haven't eaten.

Oh yes, Pinterest is filled with all these fancy daily meal organizing boards.  But really, I just don't think they're for me.  I don't want to have a strict schedule of meals spelled out for me.  Things always come up around here, and I know I wouldn't stick to it.

So I decided, I'd just pick out 4 meals I'd like to make for the week and write them and their ingredients down. When I go to the market, I'll get what I need for those 4 meals.  And I'll just make them whenever.  And on the days I don't cook, we'll have leftovers or spaghetti.

There are so many unplanned interruptions in our week that to plan a daily meal just seemed unrealistic.  So I'm going to go with this and see how it goes!

Click here for what I made tonight.  It turned out pretty good, and I love my crock pot!

Sisterly Love

I can't wait for the days when they play together.  99.9% of the day they do their own thing.  Well, that's until one of them want what the other has.  And in most cases, they only want what the other has because the other has it!

Letters to Molly

Molly, my sweet precious little angel,

Your bright, sunny personality is starting to shine.
Your smile is infectious.
I can't get enough of your giggles.

You're a mama's girl true and true.
And I love that.

You adore your sister.
I love that too.

As you drift off to sleep in my arms, I feel like I can't get enough of you.
Our private moments are few,
and in those moments I smoother you with love.
All the love I have.

Molly, you are our everything.
We love you.

Feeling like April

It has been unseasonably warm these first few days of February, and we tried to enjoy every moment of it!

We've also gotten pretty good at making forts!

And Molly's been jumping like crazy these days.
