Oh Beautiful Shenandoah Valley

We just spent four fast and furious days in the Shenandoah Valley.
Our little family vacation.

Rolling green hills.
Farms as far as the eye can see.
Panoramic views from the mountain tops.
Virginian accents.

It was all lovely.

We chose to stay in this darling cottage.
It's part of a 175 acre farm,
complete with cattle, sheep, ponies, donkeys, chickens, dogs, and cats.
The girls were just in heaven.

Boy, that's a lot of photos.
I really did go through and only pick my favorites!
And those are just from the house.

We also took a drive to the Shenandoah National Park.
There you can drive along the top of the mountain and stop at various look out points.
It is also filled with hiking trails.

The views were breath taking.
We even ventured one of the trails.

I don't even know how we managed that whole trail.
Molly was tired and miserable.
And poor Jane.
That was a lot of walking and climbing.
But she was AMAZING!
(She didn't want to do anymore hiking the rest of the trip though!)
I think we'll wait a few years before we try a hike like this again.

But, hey, that's not all!
We drove into one of the bigger towns to visit the Children's Museum.
Complete with cow milking!
It is a farm town after all!

Our little actress found herself right at home with backstage makeup and all!

Out last night we found ourselves at the local Lawn Party, otherwise known to us as a carnival!
People here call you "honey".
And it just isn't right if you don't own your own antique tractor.

This last picture just makes me smile- that boy and his hat!

As great as it was to get away, nothing is sweeter than coming home!

  1. Looks like your family had a great time! The pictures are beautiful, as are your girls! ok, and your going to think I am making this up, but my husband has the exact same grey shorts and aqua (greenish) shirt that Brian is wearing (only Devin's is v-neck. This is starting to get creepy... lol!
